Menus: Show Brunch, Lunch and Dinner at the Right Times

Set up brunch, lunch or pizza night menus in Café QR, choose when each is on, and switch one on or skip it for a day.

Updated 4 November 2026

A menu is a set of your categories and dishes that guests see at certain times: brunch at the weekend, a lunch menu on weekdays, a pizza night on Fridays or a Christmas set menu. You keep one list of dishes under Items and put them on as many menus as you like. Guests scanning your QR code, and your own ordering page, only see what is on at that moment.

Owners, and managers who can edit the menu, can set up menus.

How it works

  • A category that is in no menu shows all day, like drinks or desserts.
  • Once a category is on a menu, guests see it only while one of its menus is on.
  • A menu can hold a whole category (including dishes you add to it later) or only some of its dishes.
  • A category can be on more than one menu, for example sides on both lunch and dinner.
  • The till and the waiter app can always sell every dish, whichever menu is on.

Create a menu

  1. In your dashboard, open Menu, then Menus.
  2. Under New menu, type a name such as Lunch and tap Create menu.
  3. Under What is on this menu, open a category to put all of it on this menu, or tick only the dishes you want.
  4. Under When it is on, choose:
    • On a schedule: pick the days, then the From and Until times. Tap Add another time for a second slot, such as weekday lunch and Sunday lunch at different hours. A time that ends earlier than it starts runs past midnight into the next day.
    • When I switch it on: the menu stays off until someone turns it on, for example a Christmas set menu.
  5. Under Details, you can add a Short note that guests see under the name, such as "Stone-baked, Fridays only".
  6. Tap Save.

Times use the 24-hour clock. You can type them in short: 930 becomes 09:30, and 17 becomes 17:00.

Turn a menu on or off for today

Each menu on the Menus page has a switch in its top corner that shows whether it is on now.

  • Turn a menu on now: turn its switch on. Choose Alongside (with the menus already on) or Instead (only this one), and Until the End of today or until I switch it off. Then tap Switch on now.
  • Stop a menu early: turn its switch off while it is on. It skips the rest of this time and comes back at its next scheduled time.
  • Skip the next one: tap Skip next on the card, for example when the kitchen is closed for lunch on a bank holiday.
  • Undo a change: turn the switch back. The menu goes back to its schedule.

When no menu is on

Under Settings for all menus, choose what guests see between menus, such as before your first menu of the day starts:

  • Show the full menu: every dish, as if you had no menus.
  • Pause menu dishes: dishes that belong to a menu are hidden until the next one starts. Categories in no menu, such as drinks, stay on, and guests are told when the next menu starts.

Tap Save after choosing.

Delivery apps

If you are connected to Uber Eats, Deliveroo or Careem, the apps follow each menu's schedule: a menu's dishes are on the app during that menu's times. They also show between menus if you chose Show the full menu. Categories in no menu are on the app whenever you are open.

The delivery apps only take a weekly timetable, so menus set to When I switch it on, switching a menu on, and skipping one change only your QR menu and ordering page. The apps keep the normal schedule.

If a category's dishes are on menus at different times, the app shows them as two sections with the same name.

Common questions

A guest ordered a dish just as its menu ended. What happens? The order is checked when it is placed. If the dish's menu has just gone off, the guest is told the dish isn't on the menu right now, and when the next menu starts.

Do menus change my prices? No. A dish has one price, whichever menu it is on.

I have more than one branch. Your menus run at every branch, and the times follow each branch's own clock.
