POS system for cafés and restaurants in Canada
Priced the same in Halifax as in Vancouver, Café QR is a cloud POS that adds GST or HST at the rate you enter for your province and keeps your hours on your own time zone. The till, kitchen display, open tabs and floor plan, bookings and cash-up run in one system on any tablet, with QR table ordering built in for the guests who sit a while.

Where we are
We are a Liverpool company, so setup is a screen-share rather than a site visit: we build your menu and till from a photo of your menu, lay out your floor plan and stay on the call while you put a test sale through. Your venue's own clock drives opening hours and daily takings, so nothing runs on UK time.
01
One tax rate, set by your province
Sales tax in Canada is not one number. A café in Alberta charges GST alone; one in Ontario charges a single harmonised rate; British Columbia and the prairie provinces layer a provincial tax on top of GST. Whatever your accountant has told you to charge is what you enter, once.
You also choose the label on the bill, so the till and receipt read GST or HST as your province requires rather than borrowing a British word for it. Whether the rate sits inside your menu prices or is added at the end is your call too.
02
Five time zones, and a cash-up that respects yours
A café in St John's opens four and a half hours before one in Vancouver. Systems built for a single country routinely get this wrong, and the failure is quiet: your day's takings close on somebody else's midnight, and online guests are told you are closed while you are visibly serving.
Your venue's time zone is part of its setup. Opening hours, the boundary between one day's takings and the next, cash-up and the timestamp on a receipt all follow it.
03
Long winters, longer tabs
For a good part of the Canadian year, a café is somewhere people stay rather than pass through. Tables run open tabs that staff add to from the till or a phone, and the floor plan shows which are waiting to pay.
A guest three hours into a laptop session will often buy again but will not leave a laptop unattended to stand in line. QR ordering from the table removes that obstacle, and the order goes on the same kitchen display as everything rung through the till.
- Open tabs and a live floor plan
- One kitchen queue for till, table and online orders
- Card taken on your own terminal and recorded on the till

Questions
Cafés and restaurants in Canada ask
Can the till and receipts show GST or HST?
Yes. You enter the rate your province requires and choose the label, so the bill reads GST or HST. Whether tax sits inside menu prices or is added at the end is your choice.
Does it work with my card terminal?
It works alongside it. Built-in card readers are UK only for now, so outside the UK you keep the card terminal you have: take the payment on it and tap Card on the till to record the sale.
What does Café QR cost in Canada?
From C$49 per venue, per month, billed in CAD, after one month free with no card needed. That covers QR ordering, the kitchen screen, menu and loyalty tools; the till and the rest of the full POS are added on top, quoted in CAD before you start. There is no per-order commission.
Pricing
One price. Every table. No commission.
You pay the same each month whether guests order fifty times or five thousand. We never take a share of your orders, and guest payments go straight into your own account.
What a 5% commission per order would cost you
| Monthly table sales | 5% commission | Café QR |
|---|---|---|
| $6,000 | $300 | $49 |
| $12,000 | $600 | $49 |
| $24,000 | $1,200 | $49 |
