Edinburgh cafés and restaurants
POS system for Edinburgh cafés and restaurants
Edinburgh's year has a shape every café owner knows: steady locals most of the time, then August, when the festivals fill the city and the seasonal staff arrive. Café QR is a cloud POS that copes with both: the till, kitchen display, open tabs and floor plan, bookings, online ordering and cash-up in one system on any tablet, with QR table ordering built in so visitors can order in their phone's browser without queueing.

Where we are
We are based in Liverpool, a few hours from Edinburgh by train, so setup is a screen-share in UK hours: we build the menu and till with you, lay out your floor plan and stay on while you put a test sale through.

August is a different business
During the festivals, cafés in the Old Town and around the venues trade at a pace the rest of the year never asks of them, often with staff who started that week. A till that takes a day to learn is a till that gets worked around.
The till is your own menu as buttons, with sizes, milks and extras as choices, and the kitchen side is one screen with three columns: new, preparing, ready. Roles decide who can refund, discount or open the drawer, so a seasonal starter can sell from the first shift without being able to do anything you have not allowed.
- Staff roles and manager PIN for refunds and discounts
- Time clock for shifts, with a downloadable timesheet
- Reports by hour and weekday, so rotas follow the trade

Visitors who would rather not queue
Plenty of guests in Edinburgh are visiting, will be there once, and do not want to download an app to order a coffee. Ordering from the QR on the table happens in the phone's browser, with no account and nothing installed, and the order lands on the same kitchen screen as the till's.
Allergen and description fields sit on every item and show to the guest as they order, which saves the same question being asked at the counter all day.

Leith, Stockbridge and Bruntsfield run on bookings
Away from the centre, neighbourhood cafés and restaurants in Leith, Stockbridge and Bruntsfield fill up with locals at weekends, and brunch tables are booked ahead. The POS plan includes your own booking page, which only offers times within your opening hours and free seats, and a diary staff can seat guests from.
Each table keeps an open tab from the till or the waiter app, and the floor plan shows which are cooking, waiting to pay or asking for the bill. The POS plan is £39 per venue, per month: the till, kitchen screen, waiter app, tabs and floor plan, table bookings, online ordering, self-order kiosk and cash-up. Order & Pay, just QR ordering and the kitchen screen, is £9.99.

Questions
Cafés and restaurants in Edinburgh ask
Can seasonal festival staff learn the till quickly?
Usually within a shift. The till is your own menu as buttons, the kitchen screen has three columns (new, preparing, ready), and roles stop a new starter refunding or discounting unless you allow it.
Do visitors need an app to order from the table?
No. They scan the QR on the table and order in their phone's browser, with no account and nothing to install. The order goes to the same kitchen screen as till sales.
What does the POS cost in Edinburgh?
The same as anywhere in the UK. The POS plan is £39 per venue, per month: the till, kitchen screen, waiter app, tabs and floor plan, table bookings, online ordering, self-order kiosk and cash-up. Order & Pay, just QR ordering and the kitchen screen, is £9.99. The first month is free with no card needed, and there is no per-order commission.
Pricing
One price. Every table. No commission.
You pay the same each month whether guests order fifty times or five thousand. We never take a share of your orders, and guest payments go straight into your own account.
