When SumUp may fit

SumUp may fit a venue already using SumUp card readers that wants an iPad POS with free support, an offline mode and no long-term contract.

Its pay-as-you-go card fee with no monthly charge, and its optional modules, let a venue pay only for the parts it uses.

When Café QR may fit

Café QR may fit an independent café, restaurant, pub or takeaway that wants one system for the till, the kitchen screen and QR table ordering, and wants to see the full price before speaking to anyone. The POS plan is £39 per venue a month and includes the till, waiter app, tabs, floor plan, bookings and your own online ordering page.

It runs in a browser on hardware you may already own, and card payments go to your own Stripe account with no Café QR platform fee. There is no contract and the first month is free.

It is not the right choice if you need to take card payments through an internet outage: offline, Café QR’s till takes only cash and your own payment types.

On SumUp Point of Sale Pro, a restaurant that wants a kitchen screen, hospitality features and advanced stock adds £19 a month for each, and Goodeats charges per order for table and online ordering.

Café QR’s £39 POS plan includes the kitchen screen, QR ordering, online ordering, bookings and tabs, with no per-order Café QR fee. Stock and recipes are on Multi-site or a £12 add-on.

How much is SumUp Point of Sale Pro?+

SumUp’s UK pricing page lists Point of Sale Pro at £49 a month excluding VAT, with no onboarding fee. Modules such as Kitchen Display Screen, Hospitality and Advanced Stock are £19 a month each.

Does Café QR charge per QR order?+

No. QR table ordering is included in every Café QR plan with a 0% platform fee. Card payments go to your own Stripe account, where Stripe’s standard processing charges apply.

Can I keep my SumUp card reader with Café QR?+

Café QR does not connect to SumUp readers yet. You can take card on any existing machine and tap Card on the till to record the sale, or use a Stripe Terminal reader.
