How Café QR works

Café QR is a browser-based POS (EPOS) system. Staff ring up sales on the till or a waiter's phone, guests can also order from the table or your own online page, and every order lands on the same kitchen screen and in the same takings.

Send us your menu. Approve it. Go live.

Your menu, set up for you. A photo of a paper menu is turned into a menu with categories, prices and allergens: Flat white £3.40, Cappuccino £3.50, Avocado toast £8.50, Eggs Benedict £9.90, Carrot cake £3.80. The owner approves it and the table QR code is ready to print.

The till and online delivery, in 40 seconds. A counter sale on the till: Flat white with Oat, Croissant and two Latte, £13.80, paid with a £20.00 note and the change worked out. The ticket appears on the kitchen screen and printer. Then a customer orders Breakfast bap, Flat white, Almond croissant for delivery from the venue's own page, checks that L1 4DQ is covered, and pays £15.60 by Card. Set up the venue

Add your menu, prices and choices such as sizes, milk and extras, or send us a photo of your printed menu and we load it for you. Upload your logo and choose an accent colour.

Open the till on the tablet, phone or laptop you already have, put the kitchen screen on another, and add Star or Epson printers if you want tickets. Lay out your tables on the floor plan; each one also gets a QR code for guests who want to order themselves.

Connect your own Stripe account so card payments go straight to you as the merchant.

Take the order

At the counter, staff tap items on the till, pick the options and take cash, a Stripe card reader or your own card machine. At the table, waiters take the order on a phone and leave it on the table's tab until the guest pays.

Guests can also order from the table's QR code or from your own online page for collection and delivery. There is no app for them to install, and every order carries its table number or collection time.

The kitchen makes it

Every order, from the till, the waiter, the table or online, appears on the kitchen screen with its items, choices and table. Staff move it through New, Preparing and Ready, with a chime for new orders and a warning when one runs late.

On the POS plan, drinks can go to the bar screen and food to the kitchen screen, each showing only its own dishes. A connected printer prints the whole order.

Pay, close and come back

Card payments land in your own Stripe account; cash is recorded on the till with the change due. Refunds come off your takings with a reason. At close, staff count the drawer against the float and the day's takings are split into cash, card and online.

After paying, a guest can choose to join your loyalty club. That is separate from payment and never required to order.

Do I need special hardware?

No. The till, waiter app and kitchen screen run in the browser on a tablet, phone or laptop you already own. A Stripe card reader (UK) and Star or Epson printers are optional.

Can you load my menu for me?

Yes. Send us a photo of your printed menu and we load it for you. You can then change prices, options and sold-out items from the dashboard at any time.

Where do card payments go?

Into your own Stripe account, with your venue as the merchant. Cash is recorded on the till, and the day's takings are split into cash, card and online at close.

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Guests order from the table's QR code or your online page in their phone's browser.

How long is the free trial?

One month, with no card needed. During it you get the full POS, so you can try the till as well as table ordering. If you don't add a card before it ends, your account pauses and nothing is charged.
