Many guests in Pakistan would rather pay with Easypaisa than with cash. A restaurant can take those payments in three ways: a personal wallet number, a shop QR code, or an Easypaisa merchant account through Easypay, Easypaisa's online payments service. Only the merchant account tells your POS that a payment went through.
Details below come from Easypaisa's own online payments FAQ, checked on 31 October 2026. Easypaisa can change its process, so confirm with Easypaisa before you apply.
Wallet, shop QR or merchant account
| Personal wallet | Shop QR code | Easypay merchant account | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How the guest pays | Sends money to your number | Scans your QR code in the Easypaisa app | Taps "Pay with Easypaisa" at checkout |
| Who confirms the payment | Staff check the app | Staff check the app | Easypaisa tells your POS automatically |
| Works with a POS | No | No | Yes |
| Paperwork | None | Set up in the app | An application and verification |
A wallet or shop QR code is the quickest way to start, but at a busy counter someone has to check each payment arrived. With a merchant account, the order is marked paid as soon as Easypaisa approves it.
How to apply
Easypaisa describes the process in four stages:
- Apply online on the Easypay merchant portal and upload the documents it asks for.
- Verification: Easypaisa runs KYC checks and due diligence on your business.
- Integration: your website, app or POS is connected to Easypay.
- Go live and start taking payments.
Easypaisa says the online payment gateway is for businesses with a live website or app that sells products or services. The application asks for your business details, company type, category, store URL and settlement details, meaning where your money is paid out. Easypaisa doesn't publish one fixed document list, so expect to be asked for documents such as your CNIC and business and bank details, and check with Easypaisa what your business needs.
What your POS needs from Easypay
Once you're set up, the Easypay merchant portal gives you two details to connect a POS or online order page:
- a Store ID
- a Hash Key
Easypay gives you sandbox (test) details first and live details once you're approved. There is also an IPN URL setting in the portal. That's the address Easypaisa uses to tell your POS a payment went through, and if it's missing, payments are taken but orders never show as paid.
When the money arrives
Easypaisa's FAQ says payments from Easypaisa mobile accounts are settled daily. Ask Easypaisa about the timing for other payment types before you rely on them for cash flow.
Don't forget the tax rate
In Punjab, a bill paid with Easypaisa is a digital payment, taxed at 8% rather than the 16% cash rate (the card and cash rates explained). Make sure your POS uses the right rate for Easypaisa bills.
Easypaisa with Café QR
In Café QR you enter your Store ID and Hash Key under Settings, then Card payments, test with sandbox details, paste the IPN URL into your Easypay portal, then switch to live. Guests ordering from the table QR code or your online order page then see Pay with Easypaisa at checkout, next to JazzCash and Raast if you offer them. Café QR adds no fee; Easypaisa charges its own merchant rate. Read the Easypaisa setup guide or see the Pakistan pricing.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my personal Easypaisa account for my restaurant?
Guests can send money to a personal wallet, but staff have to check each payment by hand and it can't connect to a POS. For payments that confirm themselves, you need an Easypay merchant account.
What is the Easypay merchant portal?
It's where an Easypaisa merchant manages online payments. It holds your Store ID, Hash Key and IPN URL setting, with sandbox details for testing and live details after approval.
Is an Easypaisa shop QR code the same as a merchant account?
No. A shop QR code lets guests pay you from the Easypaisa app, but staff still check each payment. A merchant account lets your POS confirm payments automatically.
Do I need Easypaisa if I already take JazzCash or Raast?
Not necessarily, but many guests use only one wallet. Offering Easypaisa, JazzCash and Raast together lets more guests pay the way they prefer. Raast needs no merchant account at all (how Raast works at a restaurant).
