Plenty of guests in Pakistan would rather pay with JazzCash than hand over cash. A restaurant can take that money in two very different ways: by sharing a personal wallet number, or with a JazzCash merchant account. Only the second confirms payments for you.
Personal wallet vs merchant account
| Personal JazzCash wallet | JazzCash merchant account | |
|---|---|---|
| How the guest pays | Sends money to your number | Taps "Pay with JazzCash" at checkout |
| Who confirms the payment | Staff check the wallet app for each payment | JazzCash tells your POS automatically |
| Works with a POS | No | Yes, through the integration details |
| Paperwork | None | An application and verification |
| Fees | Wallet limits apply | JazzCash's merchant rate, agreed with JazzCash |
At a busy counter, checking a phone for each payment is slow and easy to get wrong. A merchant account removes that step: the order is marked paid as soon as JazzCash approves it.
How to apply
JazzCash doesn't publish one fixed checklist for every business, so the best route is to contact JazzCash's business team through its website or your account manager and ask for an online payments (merchant) account. Expect them to ask about your business and to verify it with documents such as your CNIC and business and bank details. Approval takes some days.
Once approved, the JazzCash Merchant Portal gives you three things under Integration: a Merchant ID, a Password and an Integrity Salt. JazzCash usually gives you sandbox (test) details first and live details after approval.
What guests see
With JazzCash connected to your POS, a guest ordering from the table QR code or your online order page sees Pay with JazzCash at checkout. They approve the payment in JazzCash and come straight back to a confirmed order, which is already on its way to the kitchen. The money goes into your JazzCash merchant account.
Don't forget the tax rate
In Punjab, a bill paid by JazzCash is a digital payment, taxed at 8% rather than the 16% cash rate (the card and cash rates explained). Make sure your POS uses the right rate for JazzCash bills.
What about Easypaisa and Raast?
- Raast needs no merchant account at all: guests pay your Raast ID or IBAN from any bank or wallet app, and staff confirm the payment (how Raast works at a restaurant). It's the quickest way to start taking digital payments.
- Easypaisa has its own merchant accounts that work in a similar way to JazzCash. Café QR's Easypaisa connection is on its way.
JazzCash with Café QR
In Café QR you paste your Merchant ID, Password and Integrity Salt on the Payments page, test with sandbox details, then switch to live. Café QR adds no fee; JazzCash charges its own merchant rate. Read the JazzCash setup guide or see the Pakistan pricing.
