Before your first guest, let's send a test order through to the kitchen. Open Help and guide, and scan the Try a test order code with your phone's camera. Your menu opens on the phone. Tap plus on a dish, then open your order. Type a name, and tap Place order. It's paid at the till, so no money is taken. Now, on the dashboard, click Open kitchen screen. Your order is under New, with its table number. Doing more tests later? Tap Cancel while an order is still new, so it doesn't count in your takings. Tap Start cooking, then Mark ready, then Picked up, just like during service. That's it. Your café is ready for its first real order.

Add your menu, dishes and prices

Add a category and a dish with its price, photo and allergens in the Café QR menu, mark a dish sold out, set up extras like oat milk once, and import a printed menu from a photo.

Let's add your menu, so guests can order from their phone. Go to Menu. The Items tab is your whole menu, in categories. Type a section name, like Coffee, in New category, and click Add category. Click Add item to Coffee. Type the dish name, a short description and the price. Add a photo, and tap any allergens, so guests know what they're getting. Then click Add item. Run out of something? Switch on Sold out, and guests stop seeing it straight away. Sizes or extras, like oat milk? Open Extras and options, and make a group once for every dish it suits. Got a printed menu? Click Import from photo, and check the dishes it finds before saving.

Print a QR code for every table

Add your tables in Café QR, print every table's QR code four or one to a page, add a counter code for takeaways, and replace a lost code so the old one stops working.

Every table gets its own QR code. Here's how to print them. Go to Tables, then QR codes. Type a table number, like 13, and click Add table. Click Print all QR codes. Pick four or one per page, then click Print. Stick each code where guests can scan it while seated. A stand on the table works best. Doing takeaways? Add a counter code, so guests order at the counter instead of queueing. Lost a code? Click New code on that table, and print it again. The old one stops working.

Run service from the kitchen screen

Open the Café QR kitchen screen on a tablet, turn on the chime, and move each order from New to Start cooking, Mark ready and Picked up. Kitchen stations show each screen only its own dishes.

The kitchen screen shows every order the moment it comes in. Click Open a screen at the top, and choose Kitchen. Leave it open on a tablet in the kitchen. Tap Chime once, so it chimes for every new order. New orders appear under New, with the table, each dish, its options and any notes. Tap Start cooking when you begin, and Mark ready when it's ready to go out. Tap Picked up once it's served or collected. Using stations, like Bar and Kitchen? Pick yours at the top to see only your dishes. Tip: keep the tablet plugged in, so the screen and the chime never sleep.
