PRA E-Invoicing for Restaurants: How to Set It Up
How PRA e-invoicing works for Punjab restaurants, what to get from PRA, and how to print the PRA invoice number and QR code on every bill.
Updated 17 October 2026
Restaurants in Punjab registered for sales tax on services are expected to report each sale to the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) as it happens. PRA sends back an invoice number, and the bill carries that number with a QR code the guest can scan to check the invoice is genuine.
Café QR can do the reporting for you: every paid sale is sent to PRA, and the PRA number and QR code print on the bill.
How it works
- A guest pays, at the counter, by QR code or online.
- Café QR sends the sale to PRA's e-invoicing system.
- PRA replies with an invoice number.
- The bill shows PRA with that number and a QR code.
Each branch is registered with PRA separately, so each branch has its own POS ID and reports on its own.
What you need from PRA
Do these first; they're between you and PRA.
- Register each branch's POS on PRA's e-portal (IRIS). PRA gives you a POS ID and an access token for each one.
- Ask PRA to whitelist Café QR's server for e-invoicing, by emailing eims@pra.punjab.gov.pk. Contact Café QR support first and we'll give you the server address to send them.
- PRA usually lets you test in their sandbox before approving live reporting.
Set it up in Café QR
- In your dashboard, open Settings, then Card payments (under Money), and tap Set up e-invoicing for your branches under Tax e-invoicing (PRA, SRB, FBR).
- For each branch, choose PRA under Reports to, then enter the POS ID, digits only, and the Access token.
- Tick Report this branch's paid sales. Leave Live (production) off to test in PRA's sandbox first.
- Save. The branch shows Reporting to PRA's sandbox.
- Make a few test sales and check the PRA number appears on the bill.
- Once PRA approves you, tick Live (production) and save. The branch now shows Reporting live to PRA.
If a sale doesn't get its PRA number
If PRA's system is slow or your internet drops, the sale isn't lost. It appears under Waiting for an invoice number on the e-invoicing page, and is sent again each night. Tap Send again to retry now. When everything is up to date you'll see "Every paid sale from the last 7 days has its invoice number."
Sindh (SRB) and Islamabad (FBR) branches
A branch in Karachi or elsewhere in Sindh reports to the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB), and a branch in Islamabad to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The setup is the same page: choose SRB or FBR under Reports to for that branch. SRB gives you a POS ID, a user name and a password; FBR gives you a POS ID and a token. The bill then prints the SRB or FBR invoice number and QR code instead of PRA's.
Good to know
- Card and digital payments are taxed at a lower rate in Punjab than cash. Set your card and cash tax rates in Settings; Café QR applies the right one to each bill. We explain the difference in Card vs cash sales tax in Punjab.
- The token is kept secret. Once saved, the field is blank; leave it blank to keep it.
- Only the owner can set up PRA for a branch.
- Refunds: when you refund a sale that was reported to PRA or FBR, Café QR sends a credit note for the refunded amount (a part refund sends its share of the sale and tax) and shows the credit note number on the order's receipt. If the authority is slow, it waits under Waiting for an invoice number and is sent again each night. Credit notes for SRB (Sindh) aren't sent yet, so handle those refunds with SRB directly.
Common questions
Is PRA e-invoicing ready on Café QR today? The reporting is built in. Because PRA issues credentials and whitelists servers one business at a time, every restaurant goes through PRA's sandbox before going live. Talk to us before you start and we'll walk through it with you.
I'm in Sindh, KPK or Islamabad. Does this apply? This article is for PRA (Punjab). Other provinces have their own revenue authorities and systems.
Does the guest need an app to check the QR code? No. Any phone camera opens PRA's verification page.
