Restaurant POS Hardware in Pakistan
The devices, printers and card readers that work with Café QR: use the tablet or laptop you have, add printers and a cash drawer, and take card your way.
Updated 13 October 2026
Café QR runs in a web browser, so there's no special till to buy. Most venues start with devices they already own and add a kitchen printer.
Screens: any tablet, phone or laptop
Every part of Café QR (the till, the waiter app, the kitchen screen and the dashboard) runs in a modern browser on:
- an iPad or Android tablet,
- an Android phone or iPhone (good for the waiter app),
- a laptop or desktop computer.
A typical small café uses:
| Job | Device |
|---|---|
| Till at the counter | A tablet on a stand, or a laptop |
| Kitchen screen | A tablet or old laptop in the kitchen, plugged in |
| Waiter app | Staff phones |
| Back office | Any computer or phone |
Keep kitchen and till devices plugged in and switch off auto-lock, so they never go to sleep mid-service.
Kitchen printer (optional)
If your kitchen prefers paper, Café QR prints tickets on network printers that fetch work over the internet, with nothing to install:
- Star with CloudPRNT: mC-Print3, TSP100IV, TSP650II.
- Epson with Server Direct Print: TM-m30, TM-T88VI, TM-T88VII.
Plug the printer into your router (or put it on Wi-Fi), then follow Kitchen printer setup and troubleshooting. Many kitchens use both: a screen for the queue and timing, a printer for tickets on the pass.
Any other ESC/POS receipt printer (Xprinter, Rongta, Black Copper and most low-cost models) works too, through the free print bridge: a small program on a PC or Raspberry Pi at the café that passes tickets on to it.
Receipt printer at the till (optional)
Plug a USB receipt printer into the till device and choose it under Connect receipt printer on the till (Chrome or Edge). The till then prints the receipt after each sale, with no print dialog.
Taking card payments
- In the UK: link a Stripe Terminal, Dojo or SumUp Solo reader to the till, so card payments are taken and recorded in one step. Or keep your existing card machine and record card payments on the till. See how to add your card machines.
- In Pakistan: take card on your bank's card machine, add it by name, and pick it on the till so each machine's takings show at close. Guests can also pay from their phones by Raast, JazzCash or Easypaisa at the table.
- Online and QR orders are paid on the guest's own phone, so they need no hardware at all.
Cash drawer
Plug the cash drawer into the till's USB receipt printer (the RJ11/RJ12 socket marked "DK"). The till opens it when a sale takes cash. To open it without a sale, use Printer and drawer > Open drawer (no sale): it asks why and records who opened it in the activity log. Without a printer, use a drawer that opens with a key or a button. Your end-of-day cash-up still tracks exactly what should be in it.
Internet
A normal broadband or fibre connection is enough. Put the kitchen printer on a cable to the router if you can, and keep a phone hotspot as a backup: the till keeps taking cash even offline (see What works when the internet goes down).
QR codes for tables
Café QR makes a code for each table. Print them yourself on card or stickers, or have them printed. Our blog post on printing QR codes for tables covers sizes and materials.
