Kitchen Printer Setup in Pakistan
Connect a Star, Epson or any ESC/POS kitchen printer, choose what each one prints, and fix a printer that isn't connected or isn't printing.

Café QR prints a kitchen ticket the moment an order fires, whether it was paid online, placed to pay at the counter, rung up on the till or taken by a waiter. The printer fetches tickets over your normal internet connection, so there's no driver, app or computer to keep running.
Which printers work
Café QR works with network receipt printers that can fetch work from the internet:
- Star printers with CloudPRNT, such as the mC-Print3, TSP100IV and TSP650II.
- Epson printers with Server Direct Print, such as the TM-m30 and TM-T88VI or TM-T88VII.
The printer must be on the same internet as the rest of your venue, by Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.
Any other receipt printer that speaks ESC/POS (Xprinter, Rongta, Black Copper, older Epson models, most low-cost printers) works through the print bridge: a small free program on a PC or Raspberry Pi at the café fetches the tickets and passes them to the printer, over your network or by USB.
Add a printer
- In your dashboard, open Settings, then Till & printers (under Ways to order).
- Under Kitchen printer, enter a Name (for example "Kitchen" or "Bar"), choose the Printer make and the Paper width (80mm or 58mm). With more than one branch, choose which one it Prints orders from. Tap Add printer.
- The printer appears with its own Printer URL. Copy it.
Point the printer at Café QR
Star (CloudPRNT): find the printer's IP address by printing its self-test page (the printer's manual shows how; on most models you hold the feed button while switching it on). Type that address into a browser on the same network to open the printer's settings page. Open CloudPRNT, turn it on, paste the Printer URL as the Server URL, and set polling to 5 seconds. Save and restart the printer.
Epson (Server Direct Print): open the printer's web page (or EpsonNet Config), find Server Direct Print, turn it on, paste the Printer URL as the URL, and set the interval to 5 seconds. Save and restart the printer.
Print bridge (any other ESC/POS printer): on a PC or Raspberry Pi that stays on at the café, install Node.js and download print-bridge.mjs. Open a terminal in the download folder and run node print-bridge.mjs followed by the Printer URL and where the printer is: its IP address for a network printer (for example 192.168.1.50), or /dev/usb/lp0 for a USB printer on Linux or a Raspberry Pi. Leave it running; it checks for tickets every 3 seconds.
Within a minute the printer's status in Café QR changes from Not connected yet to Online. Tap Print test ticket: it reprints your latest order within a few seconds. (No orders yet? Place a test order first.)
Choose what each printer prints
With more than one printer, say one in the kitchen and one at the bar, tell each printer which menu categories it prints. Under the printer, tick the categories and tap Save what it prints. A printer with nothing ticked prints everything.
With more than one branch, choose the branch under Prints orders from when you add the printer, so it only prints that branch's orders. (To change it later, remove the printer and add it again.)
Troubleshooting
It still says "Not connected yet". The printer has never reached Café QR. Check that:
- CloudPRNT or Server Direct Print is switched on and the URL was pasted in full, with nothing added at the end. With the print bridge, check the program is still running on the PC.
- The printer is online: print its self-test page and check it has an IP address, not 0.0.0.0.
- Your network doesn't block the printer from the internet (some guest Wi-Fi networks do). Try a cable into the router.
It was online but stopped ("Last checked in …"). Café QR shows the printer as online while it has checked in during the last three minutes. If the time is older, the printer has lost the internet or been switched off. Restart it, then check the cable or Wi-Fi.
The test prints but orders don't. Check Save what it prints: if only some categories are ticked, orders with other dishes won't print there. Also check the printer prints orders from the branch the orders are for.
A ticket printed twice. If the printer loses its connection mid-job it can be offered the ticket again. It stops retrying after a few attempts, and a ticket waiting more than 30 minutes is dropped, so a jammed printer never reprints yesterday's lunch.
Paper prints blank. Thermal paper only prints on one side. Turn the roll over.
The printer works but nobody heard the order. Pair the printer with the kitchen screen: it chimes for new orders and shows how long each one has waited. See Orders not showing on the kitchen screen for setting it up.
