End-of-Day Cash-Up in Pakistan
Open the drawer with a float, record cash paid in and out, count up at close and see the difference, with a printable report of the day's takings.
Updated 17 October 2026
A cash-up tells you whether the cash in the drawer matches what the till says you took. Café QR works out what should be there from your cash sales, so all you do is count.
Cash-up is part of the full POS plan, alongside the till and the waiter app.
1. Open the drawer
At the start of the day:
- In your dashboard, open Reports, then the Past cash-ups tab.
- Count the float: the change you start the day with.
- Enter it and tap Open drawer.
Only someone allowed to open or close the drawer can do this; by default that's managers and the owner. Anyone else sees "Ask a manager to open or close the drawer."
2. Record cash that isn't a sale
During the day, some cash goes in or out of the drawer that isn't a sale. Record each one under Cash paid in or out, with an amount, a reason and, if you like, a note:
- Cash out: Supplier paid from the till, Petty cash, Taken to the bank, Tips paid out, Wages or staff advance, Other.
- Cash in: Float top-up, Returned from the bank, Other.
For example, paying the milk delivery from the drawer: choose Supplier paid from the till, enter the amount and write "milk delivery". Without it, the count at close looks short.
3. Close and count
At the end of the day:
- Count all the cash in the drawer.
- Enter the amount counted, add a note if something needs explaining, and tap Close and reconcile.
Café QR shows what should be in the drawer (the opening float, plus cash sales, less cash refunds, plus cash paid in, less cash paid out) next to what you counted, and the difference.
4. The report
Every closed session is listed under Past sessions. Open one for the full report, and Print report if you keep paper records. It shows:
- Takings by payment: cash, card, Raast, JazzCash and any of your own payment types.
- Discounts given, service charge, tax and net sales.
- Cash drawer: opening float, cash taken, cash paid in and out, expected in drawer, counted, and the difference.
If the drawer doesn't match
- Short by a round amount? Look for a missing paid-out: a supplier, a bank drop or a staff advance that wasn't recorded.
- Over? A cash sale might have been rung through as card, or change not given.
- Card sales on your own machine: compare the "card" line with your card machine's end-of-day total.
- Check refunds and cancellations in Orders for the day.
Tips
- Same float every day makes counting faster and differences easier to spot.
- Close the drawer before you leave, even on a quiet day, so each day is its own session.
- Clocking in and out in Time clock on the same plan gives you staff hours for payroll alongside the day's takings.
