For small restaurants
A QR code ordering system for small restaurants
Guests scan the QR code on their table, order starters, mains and drinks from their phone, and pay. The ticket reaches your kitchen with the table number on it, so your team spends less time taking orders and more time looking after tables.

From the table to the kitchen
Each table has its own QR code. Scanning it opens your menu in the guest's phone browser, with nothing to download. They choose dishes, sides and cooking preferences, add a note for the kitchen if they need to, and pay.
The paid order appears on the live order board and, if you connect a supported Star CloudPRNT or Epson network printer, prints as a kitchen ticket. Guests can tap “Order more” later for dessert or another drink without waiting for a server.
- Required and optional choices with their own prices
- Kitchen notes on every order
- Sold-out dishes hidden from guests straight away
02
Allergens, service charge and the bill
Tag dishes against the 14 allergens that must be declared under UK law and show them to guests on the menu. Guests can hide dishes containing an allergen they avoid, with a reminder to tell staff about any allergy.
Add an optional service charge as its own line, and let guests add a tip if you choose. Prices include VAT and every receipt shows the VAT amount. Guests can also tap “Call staff” or “Request bill”, and the request appears in your dashboard with the table number.
03
Fits around your service
Set the hours guests can order each day and pause ordering from the dashboard when the kitchen needs a break. Waiters get their own staff role, and daily takings export as CSV for your accountant.
If you use Square, you can import your menu from the Square catalogue, push paid orders into Square and keep sold-out dishes in sync. Payments go to your own Stripe account, with your restaurant as the merchant and a 0% Café QR platform fee.
04
What it does not do
Café QR does not take table reservations, time dishes by course, or split one bill between several guests. Each order is paid when it is placed, so a table that orders in rounds pays for each round.
It suits small, independent restaurants that want guests to order and pay from the table without a large restaurant system. If you need reservations or course firing, check those are covered elsewhere in your setup.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Can guests order more later, like dessert or another drink?
Yes. After ordering, guests can tap “Order more” to add to their table without waiting for a server. Each new order goes to the kitchen with the same table number.
Can a table split the bill?
Not as a single bill. Each order is paid when it is placed, so guests who want to pay separately can each order and pay for their own items from their own phone.
Does it take table reservations?
No. Café QR handles ordering and payment at the table. Keep using your existing booking system for reservations.
Does it show allergens?
Yes. Tag dishes against the 14 allergens that must be declared under UK law and show them on the menu. Guests can hide dishes with an allergen they avoid, and are reminded to tell staff about any allergy.
