Compare the pricing model, not one number
SumUp publishes no monthly fee and a 2.50% transaction fee. Café QR charges £29 per café each month, adds a 0% platform fee and uses the café’s connected Stripe account for processing. Those models behave differently as order volume changes.

Match the system to the operation
A single independent café may not need takeaway fleets, catering channels, payment terminals or a large EPOS integration catalogue. A larger restaurant group may value those wider options more than a narrow café-focused setup.
Café QR is designed around table ordering, a live staff screen and an opt-in customer list. It is not presented as a replacement for a full multi-channel restaurant technology stack.

Ask the same payment questions
Before signing, ask who is the merchant, when payouts arrive, which processing rate applies to each card type, and whether any software percentage is added to the payment charge.
For Café QR, the café is the merchant through Stripe Connect. Café QR does not hold or touch guest funds. The competing official pages reviewed did not answer every equivalent settlement question, so those details should be confirmed directly with each provider.
